(Penny Lane) Memory Lane, and Grandma‘s showing photographs To everyone she happens to meet When she’s down the street They’re in an album neat On the corner sits Grandpa with his motorcar And he sits there waiting for Grandma at the shops And yet she always calls him Pops, again and again Very strange Memory Lane is in my ears and in my eyes Wet beneath the blue suburban skies I sit and meanwhile back in Memory Lane, Grandpa potters in his garden shed And his garden is always very green He likes to keep his garden clean It's clean and green Memory Lane, is in my ears and in my eyes Grandma’s lemon meringue pies In summer, meanwhile back Behind the shelter in the middle of a roundabout Grandma is selling poppies from a tray And though she feels as if she's in a play She is anyway Memory Lane, Grandpa goes cruising in his motorcar We see that Grandma’s sitting waiting for him And then, then she calls out “Hey Pops!” again and again Very strange Memory Lane is in my ears and in my eyes There beneath the blue suburban skies I sit and meanwhile back Memory Lane is in my ears and in my eyes There beneath the blue suburban skies Memory Lane
